The second leak of II PU Chemistry question paper lead to scores of students protesting and staging demonstrations in front of the various examination centres in Mysuru on Thursday.
While the demonstrations in front of the Maharani’s College were supported by the ABVP, the protests in front of the DC’s office led by the All India Democratic Students Organization (AIDSO) where slogans were raised demanding justice.
A student of Devaraja PU College, Safina, who was participating in the protest said the leakage of the question paper has come as a rude shock to all those students who worked hard and diligently prepared for the examination. She said, ‘’This is happening for the second time and amount to trauma as most of us have to prepare for other competitive examinations too and need to brush up for that.”
Ms Umadevi, An AIDSO activist who was leading the protest said that she came across many parents who were in tears as they were worried about the future of their children. She Said, ‘’Most of the parents today spend thousands and thousands of rupees on tuitions and in preparing their children for entrance examination for professional colleges and such incidents upsets their plans.”
According to Mr. T.P. Dinesh who is a teacher and the founder of Mathematical Science Institute in Mysuru, although it is easy for the authorities to announce re-examination but this puts a lot of pressure on the students and they might not be in the same frame of mind again that would affect their performance.
He further stated that in addition to this there hundreds of students preparing for other competitive examinations for whom this leakage would lead to miscalculation. The IITJEE commences on April 3 while the examination in the online mode would be held on April 9th and 10th. In his opinion the PU Board should keep these dates in mind while announcing the re-examination to avoid any clash.
Sujata Rajpal, a parent, meanwhile stated that it is quite unfortunate that the authorities cannot keep a question paper safely.
