Rahul Dravid Visits Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Calls it Inspiring
Rahul Dravid visited the Manipal Academy of Higher Education for the launch of "Run for Organ Donation" theme for Manipal Marathon of 2020. He also inaugurated the departments of Geriatrics and Fetal Medicine at the academy.
Rahul Dravid visited the Kasturba Hospital along with Manipal Academy of Higher Education in Manipal for a brief time in the morning before he launched the Arogya Card Scheme at Mangalore. He was truly impressed by the opportunities and facilities that were provided at the academy.
The former Indian Cricket team captain, Rahul Dravid, said that the academy was an inspiring place and the opportunities and facilities that exist in its environment were limitless. It is exactly what young minds are looking for today. He also said that it is not just a place of learning but also a place where the future of the country is going to be built.

Dravid spent about three hours at the university and hospital and in that time he inaugurated the departments of Geriatrics and Fetal Medicine at the Kasturba Hospital, paid a visit to the Health Sciences Library, and also met the officials of MAHE and the Chancellor Dr. Ramdas M Pai. The Pro-Chancellor Dr. H S Ballal, the Vice Chancellor Dr. H Vinod Bhat and some other officials were present at the event. Rahul Dravid also interacted with the students at the indoor sports complex before leaving for Mangalore and launched the theme for the Manipal Marathon 2020, “Run for Organ Donation”.

After an overview of the departments of Geriatrics and Fetal Medicine was given by the Head of General Medicine, Dr. Manjunath Hande, and the Unit Head of OBG, Dr. Akhila Vasudev, Dravid said that Manipal has been the hospital of his choice. He said he considered himself lucky for being able to interact with the people there and see for himself what they have been doing in several areas. He was glad to be the one inaugurating the departments that were at the two ends of the spectrum and he also congratulated everyone for the work being done at Manipal.
