Rajasthan: Chob Singh, a Construction Worker’s Son Cracks NEET
Rajasthan’s Chob Singh has made his family and state proud by qualifying NEET regardless of the hardships that he and his family had to deal with. Singh is the son of a small farmer and resides in Dholpur district of Rajasthan.
There were days when the illumination of lanterns was the only light that he had for studying. He secured an All India Rank of 330 in the OBC category while his general category rank is 1,413 (AIR). His father, Ramsahay Singh is a farmer with a small piece of land and works part-time as a construction worker to feed his wife, two sons and two daughters.

Chob also worked in the fields sometimes to assist his father. The proud father of Chob said that even though he had to struggle to spare money for his children’s education, God looked after them. He also had to take a loan of more than Rs 3 lakh to educate his youngest child as his income was only Rs. 8000-9000 per month.
On the advice given by his teacher, Chob decided to join coaching as another boy from a neighboring village had cracked a medical entrance exam in the past with the help of a coaching institute in Kota. He later joined Allen Career Institute, Kota in 2013-14 to crack medical entrance exams.
As he couldn’t secure a good rank in AIPMT last year, he decided that he will reappear for the entrances and worked even harder to perform better in 2016. He was also given a scholarship at the Allen Career Institute based on his potential and his caliber, said Naveen Maheshwari, Director of Allen Career Institute.
