55 Out of 81 Colleges in Jaipur Lack Basic Infrastructure
55 out of 81 colleges opened in the past five years in Jaipur don't even have buildings and some of them are functioning out of the nearby government colleges.
There are no proper buildings for 55 out of 81 colleges which were opened in the past five years, highlighting the dismal state of infrastructural facilities in Rajasthan.
Eight of these colleges do not even have the land allocated for the buildings and most of these 55 colleges operate out of rooms in government schools as per the official data of the Department of College Education, Rajasthan.
Out of the 81 colleges, 73 colleges were new and eight were bifurcated. This process involves opening separate colleges for arts, science, and commerce. The admissions for these colleges have already taken place and even the classes are on despite the 47 college buildings being under construction.
Most of the colleges which were opened in the past five years function out of classrooms of the neighbouring government schools, including government colleges in Kolayat and Sri Dungargarh, Bikaner. A first-year student of a government college in Sri Dungargarh said that two rooms have been allocated for them in the nearby school but since space is less, the classes will take place in different batches. The student further added that they haven’t had any practical classes so far but the exams are beginning on January 15 and there may be some temporary arrangement on the playground.
Approximately 200 students have taken admission in Government College Sri Dungargarh which has six teachers, GP Singh, the officer on duty stated.

As per Digvijay Shekhawat, Assistant Director of College of Education (Bikaner), fifteen bighas of land have been allotted for the college in Sri Dungargarhbhut but the funds to construct the building have not been received. They got Rs.1.5 lakh for the furniture and have plans to buy furniture amounting to Rs.10 lakh soon. New faculty members have also joined the college and the classes are running smoothly.

Three new colleges were opened in Kota, two are bifurcated and in Antah, Kanwas, and Itawa, new government colleges have opened up and they are functioning out of neighbouring government schools.
Mukesh Pareek, the party spokesperson of BJP said that the BJP government did open new colleges as per public demand. The colleges are functioning out of different buildings but in most places, there is enough space.
Congress Spokesperson, Satyendra Singh Raghav said that the BJP government just announced new schemes but didn’t work on the ground and didn’t bother to check the condition of the colleges and schools.
