Rajasthan Govt. to Set up Five New Medical Colleges
- Medical Council of India has approved the establishment of five medical colleges out of the eight proposed colleges.
- The government is also planning to set up a medical college each in Sikar and Barmer district as well.
Kalicharan Saraf, Health Minister of Rajasthan state, has announced to set up five new medical colleges in the state and the construction work for the establishment of the same will begin soon. Medical Council of India has approved to the establishment of five medical colleges out of the eight proposed colleges.
The government is also planning to set up a medical college each in Sikar and Barmer district as well. He informed the authorities that the state government is excited about setting up new medical colleges. According to him, this will offer the medical aspirants of the state relevant opportunities which were unavailable until a few years back.

Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister of Rajasthan said that this is a matter of great pleasure that Medical Council of India (MCI) has agreed to the five out of the eight proposed government medical college as it will lead to the overall development of medical education in the state. She further said that no state can progress without providing health and educational facilities to its citizens.

Chief Minister Bhamashah Swastha Beema Yojana (CMBSBY) is a popular initiative of the Rajasthan government which offers people of the state free treatment for around 1100 diseases at 61 private hospitals. The government has sanctioned Rs.13,000 crore for this purpose and it is a major step that will ensure proper healthcare facilities for its citizens. More than 1 lakh people have benefitted from the scheme till now.
