Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank Appointed as New HRD Minister
Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has been appointed as the new Human Resource Development Minister. He holds a PhD degree and is a prolific Hindi writer.
Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishan is the new Human Resource Development Minister (HRD). In past, he has served as the CM of Uttarakhand from 2009 to 2011.
Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank the new HRD Minister is from Pinani village of Uttrakhand. He is a prolific Hindi writer and holds a doctoral (Ph.D) degree from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. Many of his work has been translated into ten other languages.
According to the reports, the new HRD Minister will focus on the new National Education Policy. The government will unveil the new National Education Policy within 100 days as the same has been lying pending for the past five years.
Apart from the National Education Policy, the government will make several important announcements such as the Institutions of Eminence (IoE). The recruitment of new faculty, their training is also one of the focus areas of the government. UGC has already asked all the higher education institutions of the country to fill up the vacant posts. The special drive will be conducted for recruitment as there are around five lakh vacant faculty positions in higher education. This will help improve the teacher-student ratio which will ultimately improve the quality of education in colleges and universities.

The government is also planning to come up with the National Medical Commission. Nothing has been confirmed about the same but, this move will keep a check on the malpractices in the health care and will streamline the process.
