Ranchi College convocation concluded offering degrees to 1284 students

Ranchi College, an autonomous constituent college of Ranchi University, hosted its first convocation on last week where 1284 degrees were awarded to the students.

Ajay Kumar Singh higher and technical education department secretary in his speech said the college will be upgraded to a university soon.

The programme was held at RU's convocation ground. Around 1,284 degrees were distributed to students who graduated between 2010 and 2013.

At least 81 graduate and postgraduate students were awarded gold medals for securing the highest marks in various subjects.

"Now, you will step into a new phase of life. An important question needs to be addressed: What next? My advice to you would be to follow your heart but make wise decisions. When you maintain a balance, it will lead to success,” said Sing.

“Teachers not only have the responsibility of helping students to score well in exams but to equip them with requisite skills. The gap between an education and market demand should be filled. It is important to provide skill development training to the students," said Singh.

Ranchi University vice-chancellor Ramesh Pandey, who was the chief guest at the event, congratulated the students and asked them to their best foot forward to make the university proud.

Abha Rani was awarded a gold medal for being the best overall masters degree holder in arts for 2010-12.

While talking to media she said, "It is an honour to be part of the college's first convocation ceremony. I have never witnessed such a grand programme in the college."
