Relaxation in IELTS Exam for Foreign Nurses and Midwives
As per the new IELTS norms, nurses and midwives wishing to work in the UK will still be required to achieve a minimum overall score of 7.0 in IELTS. The IELTS exam is supervised by the British Council in more than 45 locations in India.
The United Kingdom has made the norms easier for Indian candidates looking forward to working as a nurse or midwife in the country. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), United Kingdom has released a notification stating that the English language proficiency requirements have changed for aspirants planning to work as midwives or as nurses in the UK.
As per the new English language proficiency requirements, nurses and midwives planning to work in the UK will still be required to have a minimum overall score of 7.0 band in IELTS but a 6.5 score in the writing section of the IELTS exams will be accepted alongside a 7.0 score in the each of listening, speaking and reading section of the exam.
