Revised Scheme of Education & Training for CA Course
- ICAI has formulated the Revised Scheme of Education and Training for CA programmes.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) has formulated the Revised Scheme of Education and Training for CA programmes in accordance with the International Education Standards. According to the reports, the revised scheme was launched on July 1, 2017.
The new curriculum has been designed as per the standards of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Inputs were also taken from various stakeholders for structuring the curriculum, informed Supriya Kumar, Central Council member of ICAI.
The updated course will be focused on providing technical competence, professional values, ethics, professional skills and the way a CA must conduct himself. The changes have been made to enable the upcoming batches of CAs to take up more challenging roles.

Detailed Syllabus:
As the GST or Goods and Services Tax has been introduced, it is likely to impact all the sectors. Aspiring candidates planning to become chartered accountants will have to sit for an extra exam on GST. Beginning May 2018, the exam will carry full 100 marks.

Sripriya also informed that the syllabus of the CA programme is updated by the council at regular intervals. She also added that the syllabus is structured so that students can get accustomed to the changes easily. The changes in the syllabus are implemented in multiple phases.
Mr. Ramaswamy, Ex-President of ICAI, informed that there are more than two lakh Chartered Accountants (CAs) in India but there is a need of one lakh more CAs. He also added that there has been an increase in the number of students applying for CA programmes.

The reforms in the syllabus have also been made in order to include the new tax reform in the curriculum. The changes will also help in creating better job opportunities in this field.
