Mr. Bharat Joshi, British Deputy Commissioner in Chennai observed that the rise in the number of applications indicates the exceptional education system in the UK. There were more applicants from all the five South Indian states compared to North India. On the other hand, the quality of students applying to different universities in the UK has also improved. There has been a significant rise in the visit visas issued to Indians, he pointed. According to Mr. Joshi, 80% of applicants comprise ‘visit visas’ and 20% are from people who travel to the UK for taking up job.
