Rise in Women Candidates in IIM - A
A 7% rise in women aspirants can be seen in the flag ship post graduate programme (PGP).
With a 7% rise in the women candidates for IIM- A’s flag ship post graduate programme (PGP), it has been proved that business is not only a cup of tea for men. Last year, 14% women candidates could be seen studying business education. This year, about 21% are women candidates from the entire batch.
Moreover, according to last year and current year stats, there has also been from 9% to 20% increase in the number of non- engineers this year.
The credit for such changed diversity in the students, goes to the revised and changed admission process of 2014-2016.
According to this newly adopted admission process, apart from the shortlisting of candidates and interview rounds based on CAT scores of students, the college allowed admission to top candidates from seven broad academic disciplines.
IIM-A’s director, Professor Ashish Nanda quoted “In a discussion-based learning environment such as ours, diversity of participants’ backgrounds and inclusivity of the institution’s culture contribute significantly to a positive learning environment,”
In order to select the best and most deserving candidates, the college continually accesses the admission process critically. In this way, they are able to select candidates that have the potential to contribute to their own growth and to the growth of the college.
