Run Campaigns to Promote Cashless Transactions: UGC to Varsities

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a directive to all the universities across the country stating that they should take up a campaign on cashless transactions for one month and create awareness among the students.

It was further explained that the youth must play a significant role in boosting the digital economy by adopting digital transactions. Online transactions will bring transparency in the economy by eradicating black money and corruption.

UGC further indicated that it is time for the heads of higher educational institutions to run the campaign and encourage hundreds of students to join the camp as volunteers. These students must also play an essential role in educating the people on digital payments.
The primary objective of UGC is to see that each and every educational institution in India must go cashless by adopting digital payments. UGC also mentioned that the NSS and NCC units of various colleges must identify a busy marketplace in their locality and encourage all the shops and business establishments to go cashless and adopt digital payments.

Recently, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar also advised all the higher educational institutes to go cashless. He indicated that the people must support the ‘Digital India’ initiative by adopting cashless transactions. PM Narendra Modi also emphasised and urged the youth to play a significant role in educating people on digital payments.
