SAI to Collaborate with Universities to Promote Sports Education
Sports Authority of India (SAI) plans to improve the standard of sports in India and has collaborated with some popular universities across the country.
Sports Authority of India (SAI) plans to improve the standard of sports in India and has collaborated with some popular universities across the country. Each regional SAI Director has been assigned the task to shortlist two universities in the region that have good sports infrastructure and sporting traditions.

This decision was made at a meeting chaired by the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports on Monday, October 17. The meeting was also attended by the Heads of SAI Regional Centres, SAI Training Centres (STCs), Special Area Games (SAG) Centres and Academic Institutions.
Goel said that it is important to connect and collaborate with universities having good sports infrastructure as it will help in utilizing the facilities and promote sports and sports training in the country. He further added that this will encourage students to think of sports as a career and will enable India to flourish in sports like the USA and other such nations.
The attendees of the meeting also agreed to closely monitor the performance of SAI coaches and help them in upgrading their skills. SAI will also be actively involved in searching for talented individuals in remote and interior regions of the region by sending expert teams in such areas.

Apart from this, SAI will also tie up with the defense forces to make sure that gifted youth are brought under the training of SAI Centres.
The minister also said that SAI facilities should be provided for public use without disturbing the usual work and training activities that take place.
