Sardar Patel University Gearing Up for NAAC Team Visit
Sardar Patel University (SPU) is again gearing up to host the peer team of NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council).
After its last assessment in 2011, Sardar Patel University (SPU) of district Anand in Gujarat, that had received B+ grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the University is again gearing up to host the peer team of NAAC.
Recently MS University also hosted the team of NAAC. Now, SPU will host NAAC peer team early next year, from 5 January to 7 January 2017. It is the third cycle of accreditation for the University that it will undergo.

All the 25 departments of the University are gearing up to present their presentations before the peer team. Sharing their preparedness before the visit of the NAAC team, Shirish Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor of the University said that most of the departments are revising their syllabus as per UGC model syllabus. The focus is more on the development of the infrastructure and reports documentation.
Following the guidelines of UGC, several facilities are being upgraded. This includes:
- Creation of ramps for the physically handicapped
- Purchase of the wheelchair
- Renovation of the building

The University is also trying to comply with the recommendations of peer team that visited the University last time. During that, the team had recommended to fill up vacant teaching posts, start inter disciplinary programmes.
The VC further said that they had already filled up all the vacancies and the Centre for Inter-Disciplinary Science and Technology is now offering certificate courses. An amount of INR 3 crores has been granted to the University to construct the Centre's building. The University has also received INR 2.25 crore grants from UGC, with which it is going to construct a swimming pool for staff and students. The e-tendering process has already started for the same.
