SC and OBC Students to get Free Coaching for Competitive Exams

Students belonging to SC and OBC community to get free coaching for the competitive examination as Union Government will bear all the expenditure of these students as per the revised Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has revised the central sector scheme. Now it will empanel famous coaching institutes to provide good quality coaching to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) students.

The central sector scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC students has been revised as to provide good quality coaching to these backwards community candidates so that they can appear in competitive examinations and help them in getting suitable jobs in the public or private sector.

While giving the information an official of the ministry said “ Before that Rs 20,000 was the maximum ceiling of coaching fee paid to institution per candidate. Now we will fund the entire expenditure of the student .”

“Earlier the Ministry invited applications from institutions offering to coach for competitive exams. A committee considered these proposals which would screen and shortlist them. Now Centre would ask states and UTs to furnish proposals of at least 5 coaching institutes with proven track record of success. The proposals for empanelment of coaching institutions will be considered by a Selection Committee and recommended for selection based on their past record of performance,” said an official of the Ministry.

“Institution of repute having branches in more than one district in a state will be given preference over stand- alone institutions,” the same official added.
