SCAC, Pune get CPE Status by UGC

University Grants Commission recently announced the list of 'Colleges with Potential for Excellence' (CPE) and Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce (SCAC) is the only college in Pune to get the status of 'Colleges with Potential for Excellence' (CPE).
The CPE is a status that is granted by the UGC when they thoroughly check the following potential areas of colleges:
- Teaching
- Learning
- Research
- Extension
- Administration
- Technology
The CPE is a scheme under which the University Grants Commission (UGC) check the colleges who apply colleges and if they checks out then they can avail a grant of maximum upto Rs.1 crore for achieving excellence in the academic sector.
In the the list announced by UGC for the year 2016, 4 colleges have been granted this status under the UGC XII PLAN, under the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and the Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce is one of them.
SPPU has affiliated colleges in Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik and the remaining three colleges belong to Ahmednagar and Nashik.
28 other colleges from Maharashtra have also been granted this status. In all, a total of 124 colleges from all over India have been selected and have been granted the status of CPE. This status is conferred over a period of five years and the colleges are expected to perform well in the academic innovation.
