Schools and colleges in several parts of the state are closed since November 2 as the streets are inundated with flood water. On November 4 as well, Schools were declared a holiday by the Government of Tamil Nadu specifically in the Chennai region where the flood situation is worse. On the other hand, the Indian Meteorological Centre located in Chennai has predicted that the heavy rainfall is expected to continue till November 6. In such circumstances, there is a higher possibility of declaring a holiday for schools on November 5 as well.
