Schools Seeking CBSE Affiliation have to Submit NOC Certificate, Clarifies CBSE

CBSE or Central Board of Secondary Education has announced that the schools belonging to various states need to provide No-Objection Certificate (NOC) if they want to seek CBSE affiliation. As of now, the schools which are seeking CBSE affiliation need to submit not only NOC from its state government but also a recognition certificate. These documents must be submitted along with the application form.

The primary reason for the requirement of NOC is that most of the schools belonging to various states start off as a state board affiliate. As soon as the students of a particular school progress to Class VIII, CBSE starts accepting affiliation requests through which only those students are allowed to take Class X board exams. In simple terms, NOC is required to change the board from state education department.

In the year 2013, CBSE had canceled NOC rule as then HRD Minister Shashi Tharoor claimed that NOC rule is making the state education officials harras the schools. On the other hand, some of the officials of state education department demanded bribes for issuing NOC. In some cases, the state education departments continuous delayed the issue of NOC intentionally. Therefore, Shashi Tharoor officially canceled the NOC rule in 2013.

As of now, none of the officials of CBSE is available for comment to explain about mandatory NOC rule. After the government made NEET mandatory for medical admissions, various schools have started to send applications to CBSE for affiliation.
