Scope For Online Education in India

According to a recent survey, online education and skill enhancement is likely to be a favourable option in 2-tier cities along with high number enrolments.

IT/ITES are the two industries that will constantly seek skill development in the year 2016. This survey was conducted by Talentedge (an interactive education company), media/entertainment. Some of the factors affecting the growth graph of online education in the country are that it is like an open window to world class institutes at affordable prices, gives an option to the students to earn and learn together, dynamic and fast-paced domain growth and desirable promotions or job changes.

Talentedge CEO and MD Aditya Malik marked that "India is on the cusp of a digitally empowered era," and added "we had conducted a similar survey six months ago when the "Digital India" initiative was launched and this survey has helped us gauge the level of acceptance and adoption of online education pan India."

They have conducted surveys like these before as well and this time the study proved that online programmes will be widely-preferred as candidates have the mindset to want to earn while learning. This mindset is mainly of students belonging from tier-2 cities.

But things ain’t that simple, India faces a major problem that acts as a barrier between students and online education. One such problem is internet connectivity issues, hesitation to move away from the brick and mortar system of learning, credibility of the programme provider and affordability.

"The survey identifies the challenging areas that require our immediate attention and intervention. It can be taken as a credible yardstick for the progress made so far to fasten the process of digitising the country," Malik said.
