SJMSOM – IIT Bombay Begins Session for 2017-19 Batch; 46% Takers are Females

- A total of 114 business enthusiasts from across the country have taken admission.
- A total of 53 female candidates at SJMSOM for the academic session 2017.
IIT Bombay’s Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM) welcomes the new master’s of business management batch 2017-19. A total of 114 business enthusiasts from across the country have taken admission in the institute.
The batch size of SJMSOM – IIT Bombay has increased by 6% as compared to the batch size of 2016-18. The class of 2017-19 has also maintained a healthy gender and academic diversity. The batch comprises a mix of students from different academic backgrounds.
A total of 53 female candidates registered for the management programmes offered by SJMSOM for the academic session 2017. The batch of 2017-19 batch comprises 46% women, which is an achievement for the institute in terms of gender diversity.
Classes for the batch have just begun and students from both engineering and non-technical background have enrolled for the courses offered by the Institute.

The institute hopes to produce excellent management graduates with skilled students from IITs, NITs, BITs and other reputed institutes enrolled at SJMSOM. The batch also comprises some postgraduates as well as candidates with work experience.
Several innovative changes were also observed in the admission process of the institute that helped in getting a diverse and academically strong batch.

Prof. Atanu Ghosh, Faculty Co-ordinator of Admissions, said that the change in the interview process and the panel comprising management, technology, humanities as well as other field experts helped in bringing a diverse set of students together for this batch and improving the diversity.
