SKGAC, Kurukshetra Gets the Title of AYUSH University

18th June’ 16 was a joyful day for the Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra. On that day the state cabinet approved the proposal to upgrade SKGAC to a University. Because of this decision Haryana now have the first and one of it’s kind AYUSH university in the country.
The Shri Krishna Govt. Ayurvedic College is now known as Shri Krishna AYUSH University.
An official said that the Shri Krishna AYUSH University will provide all the courses of the systems of AYUSH.
Currently there is only one Homeopathic college and ten Ayurvedic colleges in the state who are functioning.
Health Minister Anil Vij, said “an ordinance would soon be introduced for the university following which it would become functional.”
The Shri Krishna AYUSH University will provide following courses at both Undergraduate and postgraduate level:
- Ayurveda
- Siddha and Homeopathy
- Unani
- Yoga and Naturopathy
The above subjects will include the following procedures:
- Physiology
- Anatomy
- Panchakarma
- Surgery
Everyone believes that this is going to be a successful project and students from all over India can take admission in the University.

The Ministry of AYUSH is an upgrade of the Department of AYUSH and this ministry came into effect from 9th Nov’ 2014. The department of AYUSH formerly known as the department of indian systems of medicine and homeopathy is a body of government of India and it was created in March’ 1995. The full form of AYUSH is Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy. It was created with an aim to develop education and research in ayurveda (Indian traditional medicine), yoga, naturopathy, unani, siddha, and homoeopathy, and other alternative medicine systems.
