Son of a Farmer & An IIT Mandi Student Bags Job at ISRO
Atul Yadav, an IIT Mandi B.Tech Mechanical Engineering student has been selected for the Junior Scientist job at the prestigious Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Atul’s father who is a farmer expressed his satisfaction over the fact that his son will be serving the nation.
An IIT Mandi student, Atul Yadav caught the attention of the nation by securing a job in India’s top-notch research and development agency – ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). He was born in a remote village called Bhind in Madhya Pradesh. Physics has been his favourite subject ever since he entered into the higher education, and his passion for physics landed him a top-notch job at ISRO. Atul’s father who is a farmer was extremely overwhelmed and happy to hear that his son would be serving the nation through ISRO.
Atul Yadav never thought that securing a seat in IIT was not easy. He always aspired to join IIT by clearing JEE exam. Despite minimal educational standards in the school where he studied at Bhind, Atul was able to crack JEE exam. After Class 12, he went to Kota for IIT-JEE coaching, and after one year of rigorous preparation, Atul secured a seat in IIT Mandi.
Expressing his views in the current scenario of the education system in India, Atul Yadav indicated that school education standards, particularly in rural areas should be improved. The condition at the coaching centres located in Kota was unhealthy for students and there was a lot of stress. If students like him had better education standards at school level in their villages, no one would prefer a coaching centre to crack IIT-JEE entrance exam, he expressed.

Atul Yadav was the only student from B.Tech Mechanical Engineering branch to secure a job in ISRO. He will soon join ISRO as a Junior Scientist. Explaining the selection process of ISRO, Atul Yadav said that it was not very complicated as it comprised of only an interview. Only 20 students attended the interview for ISRO job, and two students (including him) from IIT Mandi secured a job. Most of the questions in the interview were based on the subject. One needs a good subject knowledge and confidence to get selected for ISRO, he added.
