Special Lecture on Active Learning Methods Held at Khalsa University
Khalsa University organized a special lecture on Credit-based Syllabi & Evaluation System at the campus of the University recently.
Khalsa University organized a special lecture on Credit-based Syllabi & Evaluation System at the campus of the University recently. The key speaker of the seminar was Vice-Chancellor Dr. SS Chahal. He emphasized on several points to be introduced in the higher education system like -
- Need for more field work
- Active learning methods
- Use of information technology
The VC said that such methods are the latest system being adopted by most of central and state universities.

Dr. Chahal was addressing the faculty and research scholars. In his speech, he said that as they were in the process of developing ordinances, courses/syllabi for various teaching programmes, schemes of study. It has become very important that the latest methods of evaluations were taken by the varsity.
Dr. Chahal also said that University Grants Commission (UGC) had been leading the movement for the universities to adopt the new system.

About Khalsa College:
Khalsa College is one the historical educational institutions in the northern Indian city of Amritsar, Punjab. It was founded in 1892. Spreading over a sprawling 300-acre the campus is located about eight kilometers from the city center on the Amritsar-Lahore highway.
The college was built as an educational institute during the British Raj in India. It was build to impart higher education to Sikhs and Punjabis within Punjab. Singh Sabha Movement and Chief Khalsa Diwan took active part while raising the college. Its architectural design was made by Ram Singh, a famous architect. Its architectural features are the mix of Mughal, British, and Sikh architect. The building was completed in 1911–12.
