Sports Education in India is Undergoing a Change: Mary Kom
- Mary Kom advised the parents to encourage their kids to play various sports so that it will pave way for the physical and mental development of children.
Popular Indian boxer Mary Kom expressed that the sports education in India is undergoing a massive change, and within a few years, the country will produce excellent athletes at par with international standards. The infrastructure facilities exclusively available for sports enthusiasts and athletes have been developed and the government is intended to provide more facilities to budding sportspersons in various sports centres across the country. The MHRD initiatives to improve sports education in India will help the sports fraternity, she added.
Adding further, Mary Kom stated that the sports initiatives of Indian government such as ‘Khelo India’ would help the people realise the significance of sports for the holistic development of the students. She also hailed ICSE that decided to host the national-level sporting event annually in schools to identify young talent.

Mary Kom was in New Delhi to give a send off to United Football female team comprising of 11 members, out of which six players have an intellectual disability.
