SPP University Conducts Workshop on Consumer Rights
SPPU is organising a one year initiative with Consumer Guidance Society of India for students of all the colleges.
The SPPU i.e. Savitribai Phule Pune University plans to start a workshop on Consumer Rights to help students understand the importance of these rights because everybody is a consumer.
SPPU is organising a one-year initiative with help from Consumer Guidance Society of India for students of all the colleges.
The University recently conducted a workshop on consumer rights in the campus only. Girish Bapat, Consumer Affairs Minister was also part of the workshop and he addressed the queries that students had at the end of the workshop.
Following are the points that were covered in the workshop:
- Consumer Protection Law
- Financial Literacy
- Adulteration
- Actions to take if cheated

With the idea in mind that students are the change, this workshop is aimed at making the students knowledgeable enough to be an apt change.
The NSS Coordinator and Director of Student Welfare Sanjay Dalvi told the reporters that they are planning to conduct the workshop for students of five to six colleges together. After the response of that workshop, they will decide whether to prosper the enterprise or not. The workshops are conducted for the only SPPU affiliated colleges which are 680 in number and these 680 colleges comprise of 7,50,000 students.
VC of SPPU, Vasudev Gade said that they are also planning to set up a cell for students purely for consumer guidance and it will be through NSS.
He also said that the main aim of these workshops is to enlighten the student about their rights as consumers.
