SPPU Law Students Upset over Out-of Syllabus Questions

Third-year law students of Savitribai Phule Pune University - SSPU are upset about an out-of-syllabus question in their 5th semester-legal writing exam and have complained about the same.

The fifth-semester law students brought the error to the notice of the examination authorities of the university. However, no action has been taken yet regarding this matter. As per the students, full marks should be awarded to those who attempted the questions which are out-of-syllabus. University officials recommended by saying that the paper will be reviewed as per the students’ complaints.

Abhishek Raskar, SSPU law student informed the authorities that the question number 4 was from outside the syllabus for the exams. They have also submitted a written application to the SSPU on 9 November 2017 regarding the error but the university has not taken any action yet.

The results of the examination were announced in January after which many students from the university applied for the photocopies of the answer sheet to know about the marking of question 4. Even after asking for the justification regarding this matter, students did not receive any response on this matter.

However, the students have received the photocopy of answer sheets a few weeks ago and when they compared they answered sheets, they noticed that students have been marked arbitrarily. The question carried a total of 16 marks. Some students who attempted the question received full marks while some had got 10 or 6. As per the students, this is very unfair on the part of the authority as all students deserve equal parts since the question was out-of-syllabus.
