SPPU Senate Asks Administration to Speed up PhD Title Approval Process
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) senate has asked the administration to quickly approve the PhD titles after getting complaints from the research scholars about the delay in approval of the PhD titles.
Savitribai Phule Pune University senate has asked the administration to speed up the process of approval for PhD titles. This has come up after at least 20-30 research scholars who have been enrolled in SPPU complained to the senate members regarding the delay in approval. Members of the body even penned down a letter to the university, requesting them to do something soon regarding the approval process for the students.
A senate member said that students complained to him about the titles not being approved and pending with the thesis department. The approval has been pending since roughly a year and students have no option but to wait for it as unless the title is approved, students cannot even begin their research work. Senate members also complained that this has been happening and on the other hand, the University has recently announced the vacant seats for PhD and has also conducted the PhD entrance exam.

An English professor who has submitted his student’s proposal for getting approved has mentioned that there has been no communication from the university even after the registration of PhD in March 2018 as a result of which students are facing issues. Many research centres from Pune which are under the faculty of humanities are dealing with the issue of topic approval too. There are roughly 100 students from the English department whose topics haven’t been cleared yet. Even after a regular follow-up with the university, there has been no communication from their end.
