SRM Founder Agrees to Deposit Rs. 69 Crore Taken from 111 MBBS Aspirants
Senior Lawyer representing the students demands for money to be given back. SRM founder agrees.
After the accusation made by 111 MBBS aspirants of fraudulent promises, the chairman of SRM Group of Institutions, T R Pachamuthu, was arrested and jailed. Four days after his arrest, a senior counsel representing the SRM Group of Institutions showed up at the Madras High Court and has agreed to deposit Rs 69 crore in the court. This 69 crore was earlier taken by T R Pachamuthu from 111 MBBS students claiming to get them admission in the SRM Medical Institute.
Even after paying such heavy amount to the institute, students did not get medical seats in the college. Students and their parents then decided to take the case in court and hired senior lawyer R C Paul Kanagaraj to represent them. The lawyer then demanded for money back instead of the seats. To this, the court further said that the source of the money should be explored and examined more.

Before disappearing, Madhan had allegedly collected Rs. 70 crore from MBBS aspirants on behalf of SRM management and claimed to get them a seat in the SRM Medical College. He then left with all the money and left a suicide note behind him saying that he was “going to attain samadhi at Kaasi.”
