SRM University Hosts Guru Drona Awards Ceremony to Honour School Principals
Guru Drona Awards ceremony was held at SRM University on January 31 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Delhi. Over a hundred school principals won awards for their excellent performance in education.
SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana hosted Guru Drona Awards, a Principal's Conclave on 31st January 2019. The event took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Delhi. The second edition of Guru Drona Awards witnessed the participation of eminent educationists, faculty members, dignitaries, experts, teachers, and school Principals. Over a hundred school principals were chosen for their excellent performance in education. The VC of SRM University handed over the Guru Drona Awards to the Principals.
This programme was conceptualised by the university as an initiative to bring the schools and university together. Post the lamp-lighting and exchange of greetings, SRM University VC, Dr. P. Prakash welcomed the gathering and spoke about how SRM universities and their branch institutions have more than 80,000 students representing India and some of the foreign countries. He also mentioned that this five-year-old institute has a motto, ‘learn, leap and lead’. The vision and motto of the institute are to impart ‘intellectualism’ through the ‘intelligence quotient’ of the students, which is converted into ‘efficiency quotient’ and eventually that can be converted into ‘employability quotient’.

Former IITian, Prof. M.M. Pant was the esteemed chief guest who emphasized upon the schemes implemented by the University for students’ and teachers’ welfare and stated that learners and teachers are the most significant people in the society. Dr. K. Srinivas, NIEPA, New Delhi Professor addressed the students regarding the programmes introduced and implemented by the Government of India in higher education. Dr. Shankar Goenka, an entrepreneur, and motivational speaker encouraged the young generation for achieving greater success.

Panel discussions were also held on ‘Active Sustainable Development’ and ‘Vocational Professional and Entrepreneurial Education’. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Manish Bhalla, the Registrar, followed by the national anthem.
