St.Stephen Offers Some Relief to Christian Scheduled Tribes, Cutoff Reduced
St.Stephens College has lowered the cut-off for students belonging to the Christian Scheduled Cast category. The institute declared it to be a step towards ensuring better representation of the Christian Community.
Students wanting to pursue undergraduate courses from the colleges under Delhi University were taken aback by giving the whooping cut-off released by different colleges a glance. Amidst all the hustle, one of the premiere colleges i.e St. Stephens College under the varsity has lessened down their required cut-off for the students belonging to the Christian scheduled tribes.
The college declared that this step was taken to ensure better representation of the Christian community. The cut-off for all the courses has been reduced to below 90%. Before, there was an objection from the students' organization regarding the difference between the cut-off for the other reserved categories and the Christians.

The NAGA Students Union of the Delhi University in a letter has written to the principal of St. Stephens that the students belonging to the Christian community might belong to General Category. The letter also stated that these students who belong to the general category are in much better social status if compared to that of the students belonging to the Christian scheduled caste category.

This can be considered to be a notable decision on the part of St. Stephens College. A premier college working to ensure representation of the students belonging to the lower sections of the society. It will definitely have a positive impact on the rest of the colleges under Delhi University.
