Shivaji University Guidance Center Students Clear UPSC Exam
A student from the pre-guidance centre of the Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK), has cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.
A student from the pre-guidance centre of the Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK), has cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. Amogh Thorat, 28, secured the 966 th rank in his fourth attempt at the examination. The results were declared on May 10. SUK vice-chancellor Devanand Shinde congratulated Thorat.
The During I earlier attempts, I missed clearing the exam by one to six marks, but perseverance and believing in himself helped him stay calm and achieve success. "I was a student of varsity's pre-guidance centre, which helped me a lot in preparing for the toughest examination in the country. Once the course was finished, I chose to study on my own.

The official added that said the pre-guidance centre, which was started in 2004, offers coaching for competitive examinations to students from the backward minority communities. Students from the reserved categories, and minority communities are eligible. The centre gets financial help for its functioning from the University Grants Commission (UGC).
