Delhi University, which received numerous complaints regarding the delay in the issue of admit card for online entrance test for UG and PG courses, has once again caused inconvenience to students while holding the online entrance test on Sunday, June 17, 2018. PWD (Persons with Disability) candidates complained that the varsity allocated distant exam centres for different subjects on the same day.

For instance, a visually impaired student, Kaushalendra Kumar who had applied for B.Ed Special Education and M.A. History courses was nervous as the entrance test for both exams fell on the same day and same time. He had no other option except to appear for only one exam.

The NAB (National Association for Blind) has taken up the issue with the officials of DU. SK Rungta of NAB pointed out that visually impaired students mostly choose M.A. History and B.Ed Special Education courses for higher studies. These students rarely choose commerce or science stream. Over the years, the same has been a trend and it seems like the varsity did not take it into account while preparing the timetable, he stated.

Dean of Examination – Delhi University, Mr. Vinay Gupta explained that the varsity had prepared a detailed schedule for the online exam and uploaded it on the official website a month ago. The varsity had invited feedback on the timetable and made necessary adjustments. The varsity conducted an entrance exam for 180 courses. He further added that students should not blame the varsity without checking the schedule in advance.

On the other hand, most PWD candidates faced difficulty with the far-off exam centres. The scribes refused to travel that far making them helpless. The admit card for the online entrance exam was out on June 15, 2018, which is why it was difficult for PWD students to make arrangements.

Mr. Vinay Gupta assured that he would make changes in the exam centres if students bring it to his notice.
