Students from Modern College, Kohima get Internship Opportunities Across the Country
For the first time, students of Nagaland have got internship opportunities across the country. They have got internships in various retail stores such as Royal Enfield and Powercell.
Many students from the final year B.Voc or Bachelor of vocational course at Modern College, Kohima have been chosen for internships in various companies in north-eastern states and Delhi. Students will get to intern for companies such as Max Guwahati, Pantaloons Delhi, Big Bazar Dimapur, and Powercell, Royal Enfield and Aurora at Kohima.
Dr. H.P. Singh, the principal of Modern College, Kohima has said in a press release that the college is the first one to start Bachelor of Vocational (B.Voc in Retail Management and IT) courses in Nagaland which is approved by the University Grants Commission or UGC. The academic curriculum of B.Voc is a skill-based curriculum that aims to prepare students as per industry needs by enhancing skills and employability needs.
The B.Voc or Bachelor of vocational in Retail and IT is a full-time course with 3-year duration recognised by the UGC or University Grants Commission. This is a branch of management studies that generally deals with the management of retail. Over 200 colleges across the country offer this Bachelor of vocational or B.Voc course.
The students who are selected for internship from Modern College, Kohima will be given a temporary position of Sales Associate where they will have to manage the retail stores' operations. For the first time, they will have first-hand work experience. This initiative is important for not only the students but of the whole north-eastern demographics where the workforce is low.

The Internship process has been started on the 1st of April. The students will be issued an internship certificate from the companies for managing the role of Team Leader, Supervisor, Department Manager, etc.
