Students of IIM Shillong Bag 'Wipro Earthian Prize'
Two students from Indian Institute of Management, Shillong and a faculty who conceived a Waste Management Project for Shillong city bagged the ‘Wipro Earthian Prize’.
Two students from Indian Institute of Management, Shillong and a faculty who conceived a Waste Management Project for Shillong city bagged the ‘Wipro Earthian Prize’. One of the officials associated with IIM-Shillong revealed that the Chairman for Wipro, Azim Premji handed over the award to the students and mentor of the project. They received a sum of Rs. 15 lakh and a plaque.

Janvi Jeetanandani and Tamnay Kaiswal are the two students who took part in the project are pursuing second-year of PGP course. These students are mentored and guided by Prof. Sanjeeb Kakoty. One of the officials mentioned that IIM-Shillong bagged ‘Wipro Earthian Prize‘ twice in the past under the mentorship of Prof. Sanjeeb Kakoty.
Prof. Kakoty was also conferred with prestigious TN Khoshoo award for his significant contribution in the area of Research in Ecology and Environment.

Sustainable development is the key concept that Prof. Kakoty worked on. Today, sustainable development is necessary. The development process of a country and protection of the environment must go hand-in-hand. If it does not happen in a sustainable manner, it poses a significant threat to the environment.
Recently, Indian Institute of Management, Shillong also bagged YES Bank Transformation Series 2016. A total number of 15 teams reached the final round, and IIM Shillong bagged the first spot. The students of IIM-Shillong demonstrated about Ecosystem of Village Entrepreneurs. They also explained about Solar Energy which can be implemented in a village in an efficient manner. The students for IIM-Shillong received a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakh.
