Several student unions of Patna University protested against the senate meeting opposing the recent happenings at the university. The students demanded that the meeting should be kept after the declaration of the budget. The students also protested that the dates of the student elections be announced. Slogans were raised against the VC of the university.
The students, who had gathered in front of the senate meeting hall, alleged that the VC Mr Y.C Simhadri is rarely available to meet the students and to listen to their concerns. More than hundreds of students were present at the demonstration. The protest also witnessed the slogans such as ‘PU VC hosh mein aao’ and ‘Inqalab Zindabad’.
The president of Chhatra Samagam Mr. Himanshu Shekhar had also alleged that the students boycotted the law exam on 29th February 2016 because they were not properly treated by the college authority and that the college administration at the exam center kept disturbing the students in the name of checking while they were writing the exams. He said, “The checking of the students should be done before they enter the exam hall, not when they have already started writing the papers.”
It is noteworthy that students had boycotted LLB 1st year exams in B.N College - Patna on 29th February 2016 and the VC had directed the suspension of students citing indiscipline.
The student union such as Chhatra Samagam, AVBP, AISF, Chhatra Rajad etc. marked their presence in the protest.
