Suhas Raghunath Pednekar Appointed as Mumbai University VC
- The new VC of Mumbai University will streamline the exam assessment process so that exams results are released on time.
- He also plans to conduct SWOT analysis then look for a solution.
Suhas Pednekar is appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai. The university has been facing various issues like a steep slide in rankings and delay in results. Pednekar’s predecessor Sanjay Deshmukh’s decision to introduce onscreen assessment lead to delay in announcing the results of lakh students of the Mumbai University which led to his exit.
The new Vice-Chancellor will be required to streamline the examination and the assessment process. The summer semester examination of the University has reached the last round and the administration is under a lot of pressure to release the result within 45 days.

Pednekar informed the authorities that his foremost focus will be conducting and declaring the university exam results within time. He plans to conduct SWOT analysis - Strength Weakness Opportunities Threats and then look for a solution. He also said that it is necessary to integrate human resources with available technology to streamline the exam process.

As per the reports, the new V-C will also be required to work on different ways to boost the varsity's national and global rankings. According to the NIRF this year, there has been a steep decline in the university’s position. It dropped from the 100-bracket to the 150-200 bracket. Apart from this it also failed to appear in any of the global rankings even after the university is well known for strong alumni and rich heritage.
