'SUK' Organises International Workshop on Mechanics, Electronics, and Information Technology

The Departement of Technology Shivaji University is hosting an International workshop on Mechatronics (Synergic Integration of Mechanics, Electronics, and Information Technology). This workshop is sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India,Under Global Initiative Academic Networks (GIAN). The workshop will take place from July 11th to July 15th.

Mechatronics: Synergic Integration of Mechanics, Electronics, and Information Technology Overview:

There has been rapid changes and improvements in the fields of electronics, computer and control systems over the last years. As a result of this, computer controlled systems have been in demand in almost every field. The number of only mechanically operating systems is very less. The applications of artificial intelligence techniques have been put into use in design, production and maintenance. Therefore, the design, production and maintenance of advanced products are no longer a single subject. It has become a must to use mechanics, electrics and computer technologies together.

This made Mechatronics emerge as a new discipline. The term “mechatronics” was first introduced in Japan in 1969 to describe the integration of mechanics and electronics. Today’s perspective of Mechatronics has evolved with technology. What Mechatronics ranges from home technologies to advanced medical devices and from computer controlled benches to robots. In parallel with the rapid advances in the field, the need for well-qualified employees has been on the increase. The program aims at teaching Mechatronics systems to meet the need for well-qualified employees.

The Faculty -

Prof. (Dr.) Manukid Parnichkun is Professor in Mechatronics field of study, School of Engineering and Technology, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He obtained B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering
from Chulalongkorn University, in 1991, M.Eng and Ph.D. in Precision Machinery Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1993 and 1996 respectively.He published 6 books, 35 articles in refereed international
journals, 6 articles in national journals, and 96 articles in conference proceedings. He conducted 28 sponsor researches with total value about 39 million Baht.
