The Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) has been praised for submitting academic data for the year 2015-16, sought under the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), on time for the fourth consecutive year.
Secretary of the Centre's higher education department Ashok Thakur recently sent a letter congratulating the university for submitting the data on time, said SUK vice-chancellor Devanand Shinde.
"All the stakeholders, including the teaching and non-teaching members of the varsity and affiliated colleges, deserve to be congratulated, and the university is committed to keep its record intact in t he future too."

Shinde added that the AISHE data is used by the Centre to formulate better policies in the higher education sector, which is why it is important
AISHE date comprises the information of an educational institute such as enrolment at various levels, human resources, infrastructure, income and expenditure. Almost all courses which may include arts, science, agriculture, teacher education, management, and engineering including polytechnics, medical and nursing come under AISHE.
All 282 colleges affiliated to Shivaji University had submitted AISHE data for the academic year 2015-16 by January 31, the stipulated deadline. Shivaji University, in a circular on January 18 this year,, had asked its affiliated colleges to submit the AISHE data by the stipulated time failing which the institutes might lose grants under the Union government's Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme.
