Sunaina Singh Appointed as New VC of Nalanda University
- President has appointed Sunaina Singh as the new VC of Nalanda University.

The President has appointed Sunaina Singh as the new vice-chancellor of Nalanda University. She is currently the head of the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) located in Hyderabad.
The appointment was made late on Wednesday after Pankaj Mohan, the interim vice chancellor of the university was in the media light for allegedly trying to protect a student who was accused of sexual harassment. After a gap of several months, Nalanda University will finally have both the Vice Chancellor and Chancellor.

On this occasion, Singh shared her visions and goals. She said that she aims to rebuild a historically and internationally known university such as Nalanda. This will no less than be a challenge but this will help to create a globally high standard academic profile of Nalanda University. These efforts will lead to achieving the visions of NU as stated in the preamble.
Sunaina Singh has achieved several awards including the one for outstanding contribution to the educational field in the year 2014. She was listed among hundred most influential vice-chancellors at the World Education Congress in 2016. She is also the member of several international and national academic committees. Singh was also indulged in redesigning and restructuring the varsity’s administrative and teaching systems.

Smita Polite, the spokesperson of Nalanda University revealed that Sunaina Singh as the head of a central university is among the most influential women vice-chancellors in South Asia. She is also the vice president (VP) of Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
