Super 30 Fame: UP Girl rises from Selling Newspapers to Graduating from IIT Roorkee

Shivangi used to sell newspapers and magazines with her father to support her family while she was studying at a government school. Always a keen student, Shivangi read about Anand Kumar’s programme, Super 30 that trained aspiring engineers from extremely poor backgrounds to crack IIT-JEE.

She applied for the programme and was selected. With the guidance and training of Anand Kumar, she made it to IIT and is now earning for herself and is supporting her family.
Shivangi was one of Kumar’s students who was shortlisted for the Super 30 programme. She stayed with his family like all other students while she was preparing for the IIT JEE entrance exam.
Emotional after discovering the success of Shivangi, Anand Kumar posted her story on Facebook. He wrote about her struggle when she used to sell newspapers with her father and manage her store. Shivangi used to study whenever she used to find time at her father’s store.

Under the guidance of Kumar, she thrived and went on to pursue engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. The news of Shivangi’s placement was a proud moment for Kumar and his family who consider her as a family member.
