Swayam to Offer 2,000 Online Courses in One Year: Prakash Javadekar
- HRD Minister made the announcement during the inaugural session of Teachers Workshop at IIT Delhi.
- Mr. Arvind Subramanian Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) is hosting a weeklong teachers’ workshop.
- Javadekar termed Swayam platform as ATL - Any Time Learning.
With an objective to promote affordable education, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar revealed that the government is planning to offer around 2,000 online courses within one year. All these online courses will be offered through Swayam. At present, Swayam is offering 380 online courses, and the target is to extend it to 2,000 courses. HRD Minister made this announcement during the inaugural session of Teachers Workshop at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

Last year, 60,000 students completed various courses through this affordable platform, i.e., Swayam. Javadekar indicated that the Swayam platform has been playing a significant role in making knowledge available anytime and anywhere similar to ATMs that offer cash. He termed the Swayam platform as ATL, an abbreviation of Any Time Learning.

Swayam platform provides high-quality education to the students right from the school level. There are various online courses for the students of Classes 9 – 12. The platform also offers various UG and PG courses.
As a part of Swayam initiative, Mr. Arvind Subramanian Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) at IIT Delhi is hosting a weeklong teachers’ workshop. He will deliver lectures on the different aspects of Indian economy. He will take into account the last three economic surveys while delivering the lecture. The course is highly beneficial to the teachers, as it covers the history of Indian economic development and the current progress.
The course will also cover the challenges faced by the Indian economy and strategies to overcome these challenges. The course will provide an in-depth understanding of Indian economy to the participants.
