Taiwan-Based University and Jamia Millia Islamia Sign MoU to Strengthen Academic Ties
- Taiwan-based National Kaohsiung University has signed a MoU with Jamia to improve academic ties between the two countries.
- The MoU will also focus on joint-research, student and faculty exchange initiatives etc.
National Kaohsiung University (Taiwan) and Jamia Millia University (JMI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic ties. Through this MoU, both the institutes will take up joint research activities and faculty exchange in the fields of Science and Technology, Education, Humanities and Arts. Professor Talat Ahmed (Vice-Chancellor of JMI) and Mr. Wu Lien Shang (President of National Kaohsiung University) signed the MoU. A Taiwanese delegation paid a high-level visit to JMI where the partnership was signed between the two universities.
Explaining about MoU, Professor Talat Ahmed said that the collaboration between the two universities would open new opportunities for young researchers working in different fields (as mentioned-above). He further pointed that Asian universities have to be active in collaborating with international universities. These kinds of collaborations will also boost the international rankings of the universities or institutes.

Adding further, the VC of JMI indicated that the MoU would facilitate student exchange programmes, international seminars and conferences.
Education Minister of Taiwan, who is also one of the members of the delegation, hoped that the collaboration between the two universities would be vital for enhancing research activities. Strengthening academic ties and bilateral growth are the two major objectives of this collaboration, he added.

Education Minister of Taiwan also revealed that the Government of Taiwan is planning to establish a platform ‘University Presidents’ Forum’ for promoting awareness on the strengths of the university system in India and Taiwan. The government will also offer 1,000 scholarships to Indian students annually to encourage them to visit Taiwan for carrying out educational and research activities.
