Tamil Lab to be Set Up in BHU with the Help of Tamil Nadu Government
The state government of Tamil Nadu will grant 1.85 lakh rupees per year for Tamil Language Education for students in BHU. The ministry to work to make ‘Thirukkural’ get recognition as a ‘World Book’ well.
To teach the Tamil Language quickly and efficiently to the non-Tamil speakers, the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is setting up a lab for Tamil Language studies. The TN Minister of Culture and Tamil Language, Mr K Pandiaraja announced about the step in the assembly. He has also spoken about the allocation of 9.60 lakh rupees fund to BHU for the initiative.
For the students who opt to learn Tamil in Banaras Hindu University (BHU) as the second language, the TN government will pay tuition fees on behalf of them. The Tamil Nadu government will allocate a maximum of 1.85 lakh rupees per year depending upon the students’ admissions taken in the course.
Apart from that, an amount of 30 lakh rupees will be allocated to offer instruction on Tamil learning through Tamil Grammar and Literature to both of Tamil language teachers and students residing in Fiji and British Guiana.
Mr Pandiarajan has expressed his will to make ‘Thirukkural’ recognised worldwide which is a Tamil Classic Literature and a monograph on areas including the dharma. He wants to get Thirukkural the prestigious recognition as a “World Book.” The process generally gets done with the approval of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation known as UNESCO.

This is encouraging activities on the Tamil language will be a significant step to promote higher education in Regional languages in India which is an initiative being taken by MHRD. The Hon’ble Vice President Mr Venkaiah Naidu has also suggested to make mother languages as the mode of education recently. This step will be complementary to the new wave of multilingualism being promoted in India.
