Tamil Nadu Declares NEET 2017 Merit List; Download Counselling Letters Now

  • Tamil Nadu has released the counselling call letters and merit list for admission to medical courses.
  • The state has also released a notification regarding counselling rules and procedure. 
  • Tamil Nadu’s one-year exemption ordinance has not been cleared.

The Directorate of Medical Education has released the merit list for admission to the NEET based medical courses. Candidates who had registered themselves can download their call letters for counselling from the official website of Tamil Nadu medical section. Candidates are required to be present at the counselling venue an hour prior to the formal procedure.

The state has also released the tentative vacancy position for admission on the official website of counselling. Candidates who had registered themselves at the Tamil Nadu NEET admission portal will be able to check their results as soon as the seat allotment has been announced.

    Steps to Download Tamil Nadu NEET 2017 Counselling Call Letter and Check the Allotment Result:

    • Log on to the official website of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling portal.
    • Look for the link that says ‘NEET counselling - allotment results’ and click on it.
    • Enter your login credentials and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
    • Your seat allotment status/ result will appear on the screen.

    Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling Rules:

    • According to the NEET Counselling notification released by Tamil Nadu, candidates who have recieved call letters and fail to appear for the first round of counselling will not be able to apply for the subsequent rounds.
    • Candidates who have not opted for Govt. /SF MBBS/ Govt. BDS/SF BDS seats available in the first round will not be eligible to apply for the same in the remaining rounds.
    • Candidates allotted seats under Self Financing MBBS Quota of the Government who do not join the course will not be refunded the tuition fee amount of Rs. 25,000/- paid as Demand Draft.
    • Candidates must check the websites frequently to keep track of the seats remaining in the Govt. MBBS, Govt Quota in Self-financing BDS and Govt. Quota in Self Financing MBBS quota. Candidates can opt only for the vacancies available at their turn.
    • Candidates are not allowed to carry mobile phones and other communication devices in the hall during counselling.

    After the long debate on whether Tamil Nadu should get one-year exempted from the NEET seat allocation process or not, the Centre told the Supreme Court that it was not in favour of the exemption.

    The ordinance passed by the Tamil Nadu Government to get one-year exemption from NEET for the students of the state was not cleared, Attorney General K.K. Venugopal informed the apex court bench. The Court then directed that the medical counselling be completed by September 4.

    With the clear directions passed by the Supreme Court to pave way for medical admission in Tamil Nadu, the seat allotment results will be announced soon on the official website of Tamil Nadu NEET.

    The Tamil Nadu medical admission process has been delayed due to the conflict between the state and central governments. Initially, the allotment result was supposed to be declared on July 17, 2017.
