Tata Steel Signs MoU with IIT Madras
The Institute and the group are aiming to discover many innovative materials.
Tata Steel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology, Madras to set up a research centre at the Institute. An advanced research centre will be set up by Tata Steel for manufacturing various materials.

The Tata Steel Advanced Materials Research Centre will play a significant role in manufacturing and developing new materials as a unique combination of physical and chemical properties which were either absent or difficult to obtain using conventional materials.
The chief technology officer of Tata Group Mr. Gopichand Katragadda said that the primary objective of Tata Steel is to advance progress in science and materials into technologies which meet market needs.

Director of IIT Madras Mr. Bhaskar Ramamurthi said that the Institute and Tata Group would work collectively to develop new materials which include Graphene. The Institute and the group are aiming to discover many innovative materials. The main purpose is to achieve global recognition.
Mr. Anand Sen, President, Tata Steel Limited said that the centre would initially focus on developing green energy and lightweight technologies by using carbon-based materials.
