TCS Named the Top IT Employer, Followed by Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro
Nasscom – the IT Industry representative body – has named the TCS as the top employer of the industry. Infosys, Cognizant and Wipro follow.
Nasscom – the IT Industry representative body – has named the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as the top employer of the industry. Infosys, Cognizant and Wipro follow TCS in the list of prominent IT recruiters.
National Association of Software and Services Companies' (Nasscom) stated on Monday, July 25, that TCS leads the annual rankings of top IT-BPM (business process management) employers in India as per the statistics for 2016. TCS currently has an employee strength of 362,079 employees out of which 33.8% are women.

Infosys got the second place with 197,050 employees. Others follow soon behind with Cognizant Technology Solutions India ranked third then Wipro, Capgemini India, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Genpact, Intelenet Global Service and Aegis.

Cognizant being a US-based IT company has its maximum employee strength in India. It also has development sites at Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Nasscom also stated that ever since 2009, technology companies will not hire as many students from the engineering institutes as they have been in the previous years. The body accrued this to the companies increasingly going for automation for entry-level jobs and also a step towards better leveraging their bench strength.
Out of the 16 lakh engineering graduates that pass out every year in India, only 2 lakh are hired by the IT industry in our country with very less scope for enhancement of salary in the industry.

R Chandrasekhar, the President of Nasscom said that companies are now emphasizing on enhancing their utilization levels and take down the bench strength. He also said that most of the IT companies have adopted automation hugely and is training their employees to increase the level of net productivity per employee.
TCS has reportedly seen a fall in its Q1 attrition rate. Infosys, on the other hand, witnessed a 21% rise in attrition rate.
