The results of the Chartered Accountants (CA) final examination and Common Proficiency Test (CPT) were declared by The Indian Institute of Chartered Accountant (ICAI) on January 17.
Somnath Giram, a 28 year tea seller who lives in a small village in Solapur district and sells tea at a joint in Sadashiv Peth area has qualified the exam. Quite deservingly he has been now appointed as the brand ambassador of Maharashtra government’s ‘earn and learn’ scheme.
“Nowadays, there are acche din (good days) for chaiwallas (tea sellers). Those who sold tea became Prime Minister and now Somnath became CA while serving tea, and to inspire students like him, I announce him as the brand ambassador for ‘earn and learn’ scheme of the state (government),” said the Maharashtra State Education Minister Vinod Tawde.
On being made the brand ambassador for the scheme Somnath Giram said,” I have received the news through media and I am very happy that the state government has announced me as the brand ambassador for ‘earn and learn scheme’. I will work towards the welfare of poor students who are determined.”
Chartered Accountants in India are regulated by the ICAI that was set up by the Chartered Accountants Act 1949. The examination is conducted twice every year. The next examination would be held in the month of June.
