Students complained that since the admission to the medical colleges was delayed following the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination, they were not able to complete their syllabus for the year in time. Several students are planning to write to the University for the postponement of the examinations. One of the medical colleges has also written to MUHS seeking a postponement of the dates by at least three weeks so that the students can finish their syllabus and get time to study and prepare for the examinations.
The examinations are scheduled to start from 3rd June 2017. A Pune-based medical college Dean said that they would not be able to complete the course syllabus in the stipulated time. He said that NEET was introduced at the last moment and the admission process commencement was further delayed until the end of September 2016.
Alternatively, the colleges can finish the syllabus by arranging extra classes on public holidays and weekends. But this too may turn out to be a hassle, they believe.

Parents of a student explained that the medical course syllabus cannot be completed in a hurry. It is a very sensitive subject dealing with human health. If the exam is postponed, students will not only get enough time to prepare but they will also be able to complete the remaining syllabus.
KD Chavan, the controller of examinations, MUHS said that they will consider the requests of the colleges as well as students and will take a decision soon in this regard.
