Telangana and AP Aided Colleges to Turn into Private Colleges
Over 60 Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State Government aided educational institutions are likely to turn into private colleges. Decisions made by the previous state government are to be blamed for the institutions taking such drastic steps, Sources state.
Some of the top educational institutions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh who have been functioning under the State Government Aid of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh many decades will now be forced to privatize their institutions. Institutions such as the nearly 70-year-old Badruka College of Commerce (BCC), commonly known as Shriram College of Commerce (SCC) in the metropolitan city of Hyderabad, has been working off of the Government aids provided by the state of Telangana. Sources state it is expected to see the college becoming a private college in the near future.
As per the statement made by the Commissioner of Collegiate Education (CCE), Telangana State is home to around 60 educational institutions, that are functioning with the help of other educational societies or trusts.

A Senior Official from CCE has stated that there are 16 aided colleges who are currently under the affiliation of Osmania University. He further added that these colleges will now consider becoming completely private unaided educational institutions. Counting all the undergraduate and postgraduate colleges in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and every single one of these institutions have been receiving the state government aid. Sources state that these colleges are facing a similar issue. Sources also state that it was the decision of the previous state governments that have forced the colleges to take such drastic steps.

One of the decisions that were taken by the previous government was that the state of Andhra Pradesh had banned the institutions from employing faculty in the sanctioned posts of the aided colleges, which has been taking place since the last 20 years. A similar situation has been faced by the institutions in Telangana, however, it worse than Andhra Pradesh. The faculty who had been assigned the aided posts in Telangana educational institutions have been transferred to Government colleges in the previous academic year of 2018-19. These issues, along with others, that the institutions have been facing over the years have now forced the colleges to drastic steps like converting the courses into self-financing courses.
