Telangana DOST Degree Admissions 2018-19 Closed, Female Students Dominate Admissions
Female students have dominated the Telangana Degree Online admissions this year. In all, 1,07,081 female students joined degree courses while 93,142 men confirmed their admission.
The final phase counselling process for Telangana Degree Online Admissions (DOST) has been closed. This year, 2,00,223 students joined various courses in 1,045-degree colleges across the state. Continuing the trend, English medium degree courses dominated the admission process with 1.60 lakh students out of 2,00,223 admissions. Overall, only 10% of students opted for Telugu medium degree courses this year.

As per the above statistics, it is quite evident that more female students joined degree courses than men this year. In all, 1,07,081 female students joined degree courses while 93,142 men confirmed their admission.

This year, 53-degree colleges affiliated to various universities recorded zero admissions. These colleges offered 10,820 seats in UG courses, and no student joined/ confirmed admission in these colleges. Among the universities, Kakatiya University recorded zero admissions in 21-degree colleges affiliated to it.
The performance of most of the government degree colleges is up to the mark with 80%+ admissions.
Some of the top officials of universities pointed out that the shortcomings in the online admission process are also one among the reasons for the less enrollment. This year, the online admission process created chaos particularly to those students who submitted the online application form through MeeSeva centres. Lack of awareness among the students about the online admission process and the incompetent software used by the authorities are some of the main reasons that hurt the enrolment.
Finally, after conducting the special admission drive, a little over two lakh seats remained vacant in the degree colleges across Telangana. Out of 4,03,002 seats available in various undergraduate (UG) courses in 1,041-degree colleges in Telangana, only 2,02,662 students were allotted seats. Satavahana University, which has the third highest intake of 45,471 seats in 113-degree colleges affiliated to it, could only fill 21,886 seats this year.
